  • The Heartbeat of the Desert: Black Desert, a Design for All

Set in the striking landscapes of Ivins, Utah, Black Desert Resort is more than just another getaway; it's a truly transformative experience. At the heart of it all, The Boardwalk and The Cove emerge as the resort's vibrant commercial and entertainment core, designed to welcome visitors of all ages and interests.   Designing the Desert The design emerges from the land itself, an ancient lava field  surrounded by sandstone mountains, all magnificently shaped by geological forces. GVI embraced this context to create a contemporary desert aesthetic.  This approach enhances every breathtaking view and offers reprieve from the high sun. Each space offers a gesture of comfort and welcoming natural light, all shaped by the beauty of the natural world. The outdoor areas encourage moments of pause and connection, fully embracing and adjusting to the climate throughout the year. The selection of natural textures and soft earth tones anchors the architecture, fostering a sense of harmony which feels both expansive and intimate. The Pulse of the Desert GVI envisioned a space which is interconnected to all: the Boardwalk and The Cove with the resort hotel , the golf course , the future water park , and 316 condominiums . With 160,000 square feet of restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues , it becomes a living center where people meet, engage, and explore. Families, travelers, and locals alike will discover an abundance of meaningful experiences. A Destination Designed for You Black Desert  welcomes those who seek beauty, connection, and experience. It invites guests to live fully, explore freely, and feel at home in a distinctive setting sculpted by the land and instructed by design. GVI continues to create architecture which honors each place and elevates the space and time in which people thrive within it. GVI and the Black Desert Championship: Shared Values, Premier Legacy   Designed as the social and cultural heart of Black Desert , the Boardwalk and The Cove Village  embody connection, vitality, and experience. In this same spirit, GVI proudly partnered with the Black Desert Championship , an LPGA Tour  event held in Ivins, Utah from May 1 to 4, 2025.   Set against the backdrop of stunning desert landscapes, the tournament showcased world-class athletes whilst also attracting a global audience. Hae-ran Ryu secured her first LPGA Tour victory in more than eight years with a final score of 262 (-26), finishing five strokes ahead of Esther Henseleit  and Ruoning Yin .   Precision, focus, and resilience are values which define the game and are at the forefront of everything we design. At GVI, we celebrate moments where excellence exudes from purpose. Together with Black Desert , we design more than physical space; we create momentum.

  • Designing Eternity: Celebrating 25 Years

Design lifts what words cannot express. The Santuario De los Mártires de Cristo Rey in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco emerged as a response to the need for a sacred space that honors the Mexican Martyrs with dignity and presence. Dedicated to a group of Catholics who died for their faith during the Cristero War in early 20th century Mexico, the project carries deep historical and spiritual significance. Architect José Manuel Gómez Vázquez Aldana, our founder, designed the Sanctuary as an expression of his deep faith, combining artistic design with architectural innovation. Through every curve and contour, he crafted a sacred space that is set to be one of the largest in the world, speaking to the spiritual heart of a community. Santuario de los mártires, Guadalajara, Jalisco 25 years of remembrance, and design Sourced from the Santuario de los Mártires fan page on Facebook. On May 21st, 2025, the community celebrated the 25th anniversary of the canonization of the Mexican Martyrs. They honored their bravery and reaffirmed their dedication to a sanctuary that keeps their memory alive. The anniversary became a moment of reflection and renewed purpose, where devotion took shape as a lasting space of meaning.  Architect José Manuel Gómez, who designed the sanctuary in support of the Archdiocese, attended the celebration and took part in this meaningful moment. Architecture That Speaks to the Soul Architect José Manuel Gómez Vázquez Aldana shaped the project, infusing it with contemporary design and profound symbolism. His creative direction positions the sanctuary as a new icon of religious architecture rooted in Mexico's cultural and spiritual identity. Inspired by the unwavering faith of the people of Jalisco, the design seeks to become a tangible symbol of their devotion. This sacred space reflects their spiritual legacy with architectural clarity. sanctuary´s interior His vision includes smart ventilation through air injection at the base, generating a chimney effect that naturally expels warm air during large gatherings. This thoughtful feature enhances comfort and reduces energy use, demonstrating how design can uplift both spirit and sustainability. A Sculptural Statement of Faith The sanctuary's design commands attention with its three massive overlapping domes, remarkable for having no interior support. The structure features a cutting-edge aluminum roof stretching over 14,000 square meters, shaped by a delicate steel mesh that forms four distinct domes, three flowing freeform shapes, and one striking semi-sphere at the entrance, offering panoramic views of the Guadalajara city from Cerro del Tesoro. The interior concrete ribs carve sweeping curves into the grand seating areas, creating a powerful spatial experience. Spanning 16.5 hectares, the sanctuary accommodates 12,000 people in its main hall and an additional 50,000 in the atrium and front plaza. It also includes a hospital, nursing school, and guest accommodations, addressing both spiritual and practical needs. sactuary´s sketch Architectural and Cultural Icon This sanctuary will become an international reference for contemporary religious architecture and a powerful symbol of faith and identity for the people of Guadalajara. It completes a sacred triangle with the Santuario de Cristo Rey  and the Basílica de Guadalupe, connecting Mexico's rich religious heritage. Celebrating 25 years since the canonization of the Mexican Martyrs, this sanctuary honors their bravery through a bold and visionary design. It captures the spirit of faith and resilience, inspiring everyone who visits. The architecture stands as a powerful symbol of devotion and hope, rising proudly over the city and illuminating a profound legacy. Faith ignites the soul. Memory builds eternity.

This symbol established a visual language that connects the resort's hotels, spas, restaurants, and villas through cultural depth and architectural clarity. By applying this geometry to elements like façades, signage, and room numbers, Idée created a cohesive, emotionally resonant experience where heritage and design move. Idée´s Signage for St Regis A Place with Purpose From the very first step, guests embark on a journey that connects them to the spirit of Los Cabos. GVI's design inspires, restores, and rewards those who seek depth, beauty, and meaning. Creative Dialogue in Action: The Making of St. Regis The St. Regis project unfolds in three phases: the hotel, the residences, and the golf-side condos and townhomes. Construction began with the hotel, followed by the residences and finally, the golf-side units. St Regis Los Cabos under construction We built through a time of global uncertainty. The pandemic tested our adaptability. Then came the terrain: the site sits on a hillside, and beachfront condos required excavation and stormwater management. We had to shape slopes, redirect runoff, and work closely with nature. Construction process St Regis Los Cabos Creative dialogue guided every step of the process. Close coordination and clear communication helped us understand and bring the client's vision to life. Together, we transformed ideas into purposeful designs, celebrating the site, elevating the experience, and ensuring a journey from concept to construction.

Architectural Design: A Flowing Connection to Water The hotel's design draws inspiration from water, the sea, and its constant movement. The rhythm of the tides, the interplay of light, and the ever-changing colors and textures of the surface shape its essence. Organic lines and fluid forms reflect the natural flow of the ocean, creating a dynamic and immersive experience. Layered Luxury GVI maximized the space with 452 ocean-view rooms and tiered swimming pools, even on the hotel's flat, wide site. The vertical layout optimizes the land, ensuring efficiency and a strong connection to the sea. The resort is composed of repeated structures arranged in sweeping semicircles, evoking the fluidity of the ocean and ensuring ocean views from every room. As part of the master plan, the hotel also offers a spa and an exclusive dinner show experience, enriching the guest's journey with wellness and entertainment. • A Journey of Timeless Elegance: The Luxury Collection

While designing The Luxury Collection All-Inclusive Yanuna, located in the Dominican Republic, Gomez Vazquez International drew inspiration from Taino culture, honoring the site of the world's largest Taino settlement within the same area. We created a world-class destination on a stunning property with approximately 360 meters of pristine beachfront and 13.98 hectares of lush landscape. The property blends nature, culture, and contemporary design to offer an unparalleled experience. We took full advantage of the site's natural slope, from beach level upwards, to frame breathtaking ocean views. The main building's entrance opens up to these stunning vistas. In contrast, guest buildings are carefully positioned throughout the property to offer panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, blending with the surrounding biodiversity. Cultural and Natural Inspirations The Taino were an Indigenous people who lived in the Dominican Republic and other parts of the Caribbean between the 1200s and 1500s. They primarily survived through farming and fishing in small settlements and created painted pottery, carved stone artifacts, shell pendants, and figurines believed to have ritualistic significance. Deeply connected to nature, their artifacts showcase exceptional craftsmanship, rich traditions, and the diverse materials that tell their story. Larimar, a rare gem found only in the Dominican Republic, is a national treasure. Its uniqueness stems from the extraordinary combination of elements contributing to its formation. These two elements, the Taino culture and the Larimar stone, inspired the concept behind The Luxury Collection Yanuna. The design's detail, shape, line, and color tell a story, reinterpreting the gem's journey and merging natural elements with architectural innovation. A Journey of Discovery Through our design, The Luxury Collection offers an immersive experience where pathways guide the exploration of the resort and its surroundings. Water and lush vegetation connect unique spaces, creating an atmosphere of exploration and tranquility. Our design blends traditional design with modern elements, celebrating natural materials, evocative lighting, and sensory details—rich textures, captivating scents, and soothing sounds. The main building harmonizes with its surroundings through a contemporary design. Inspired by sacred Taíno caves, the motor lobby at the front integrates with the landscape. At the same time, the rear façade overlooking the sea features elegant wooden details that enhance the building's graceful curves, fostering a warm and inviting ambiance. The lower level houses essential services and back-of-house operations, while the upper levels are dedicated to the lobby, restaurants, and premium amenities. The design enhances functionality and elevates the guest experience, ensuring seamless service in an environment that promotes comfort and relaxation. Dynamic Spaces and Luxury Experiences We created a lobby that transforms throughout the day from a tranquil gathering space to an art workshop, a venue for pop-up performances, and a lively setting for evening happy hours. This dynamic area fosters engagement, offering fresh and memorable experiences at every turn. The resort's design emphasizes views that celebrate the surrounding natural beauty, blending comfort with an authentic connection to the environment. A Haven of Serenity We envisioned the guestroom buildings as a serene retreat where architecture and nature blend effortlessly. Silver-gray marble bases anchor the design, reflecting the stone's timeless elegance, while ocean-blue travertine accents evoke the calming hues of the sea. Vertical wooden elements extend gracefully to the ceilings, creating a sense of warmth and shelter. Inspired by nature, these materials craft an elegant and soothing space where guests feel connected to the earth while enveloped in refined comfort. Through creative dialogue, Gomez Vazquez International crafted a design narrative inspired by the rich heritage of the Taino and the brilliance of the Larimar stone. This vision comes to life in The Luxury Collection Resort, where nature, culture, and architecture converge to create an unforgettable experience that embodies adventure, relaxation, and discovery.

  • Snow Destinations: Cormont at Deer Valley East Village

Location Deer Valley is a renowned mountain destination in northern Utah, USA. It is 30 miles east of Salt Lake City and 2 miles from Park City. Known for its recreational activities, luxury properties, and breathtaking scenery, Deer Valley is considered one of North America's best mountain resorts. Deer Valley East Village comprises five-star hotels, condominium buildings, mountain amenities, and skier services with breathtaking landscapes. A significant expansion project began, doubling the size of the resort and making it one of the largest ski resorts in the country; Gomez Vazquez International is part of this expansion with the design of Cormont, which is the lively heart of Deer Valley East Village, becoming the central spot that brings people together and fills the area with energy. This inviting space will be the vibrant hub of Deer Valley East Village. It will capture the mountain spirit and create a warm gathering place where everyone can come together to enjoy all the village has to offer. Cormont at Deer Valley East Village is a new, warm gathering place. Inspired by the beauty of snow and ice patterns, Cormont's design captures the mountain's natural elegance while harmonizing architecture with nature. Cormont offers comfort and luxury through warm materials such as local stone and natural wood, reflecting a refined yet casual aesthetic that embodies Deer Valley's signature style. With our thoughtful design, we have created a destination where you can immerse yourself in nature without sacrificing the conveniences of modern living, a place steps away from mountain adventures. Cormont's inspiration Cormont comprises five residential buildings arranged in a horseshoe shape around a plaza designed to shield against wind and snow while offering welcoming space for gatherings and events. These buildings house 370 residences, each featuring zigzag balconies that add movement to the facades and frame spectacular views of the mountains, Jordanelle Lake, and the central plaza. The ground floors of the residential buildings include 100,000 sf of commercial area, which activates the plaza throughout the day, year-round. These spaces range from exclusive brand-name stores and restaurants to family amenities and local shops. The central plaza offers outdoor spaces such as an amphitheater, an ice skating rink, children's play areas, and more, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The Cormont Central Plaza design isn't just for winter; the facilities adapt for year-round use, allowing guests to continue enjoying them. One example is the skating rink, which transforms into a roller-skating rink in the summer, creating a dynamic space that evolves with the changing weather. The main reason for positioning building amenities and public spaces within the structures was to take advantage of the surrounding views. In line with this idea, we created a large pool deck on the easternmost building to make the most of the views of Jordanelle Reservoir to the east. This remarkable deck features both outdoor and indoor pools, a spacious terrace, hot tubs, and a lounge area by the indoor pool. Located on the building's second floor, the pool deck floats above the landscape. It provides stunning, panoramic views to the east, with changing scenery throughout the seasons. This area offers a peaceful retreat, contrasting the energy of the central plaza. In addition, amenities like après ski lounges, fitness centers, plunge pools, and saunas have been thoughtfully positioned in each building to optimize the surrounding views. These include Bald Mountain to the west, Jordanelle Reservoir to the east, Big Dutch Peak to the south, and Rossi Hill to the north. The buildings create inviting spaces for relaxation and reflection, offering stunning views of one of the world's most breathtaking mountain landscapes. We aim to craft memorable experiences and enhance natural beauty through careful design and strategic thinking to place every feature. At Cormont, Gomez Vazquez International redefines luxury with signature hospitality for contemporary mountain resort living; we expand our architectural expertise into world-class mountain resorts.

  • Blanco Offices: A fresh take on office architecture

Imagine stepping into a workspace nestled in the heart of an art park, surrounded by the tranquility of a serene forest. This isn’t just a vision—it’s the reality we’ve created at Gomez Vazquez International. We’ve reimagined the conventional office space and transformed it into an inspiring environment where modern design seamlessly integrates with nature. Our goal was clear: to create a dynamic and flexible workspace that blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. We achieved this by developing a cluster of seven interconnected modular buildings, each thoughtfully designed to coexist with its natural surroundings. Picture yourself working in one of these buildings, where expansive windows frame the beauty of the forest, and outdoor patios showcase art, turning the entire complex into a living gallery. This is where architecture meets nature in the most harmonious way. Design That Connects As you explore the design, you’ll notice how the one- and two-story buildings blend effortlessly into the treetops. The strategic placement of each structure ensures that they almost disappear among the lush foliage. Inside, we’ve designed flexible open spaces that offer direct visual connections to the outdoors. Private offices and service areas are integrated within this open plan, with mezzanines providing additional space for creativity and collaboration. Each building features carved patios that not only invite natural light but also extend the interior spaces into unique outdoor areas. We’ve reimagined traditional gable roofs with a contemporary twist, incorporating gently curved elevations that give our buildings a modern flair. This design approach is not just about aesthetics; it’s about creating an environment that supports both productivity and inspiration. Our aim was to foster a setting where every corner encourages collaboration and sparks new ideas. From steel frames to metal panels, we’ve chosen materials that give the buildings a cool, industrial look while still fitting in with the natural surroundings. With fiber-cement siding, aluminum storefronts, and steel railings, everything comes together to create a stylish yet down-to-earth vibe. Our design philosophy is simple: transform ordinary spaces into unique environments that ignite creativity and foster meaningful connections. We’re thrilled to share that our innovative approach has been recognized with the USA Property Awards for Office Architecture 2022-2023. This award underscores our commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and making a global impact. As we continue to explore new horizons, we’re excited to bring our architectural vision to life around the world. Join Us on This Journey At GVI, we believe in the power of architecture to inspire and connect. Our designs are crafted to transcend borders and redefine what’s possible. We invite you to experience our latest project and see firsthand how we’re shaping the future of workspaces, one innovative design at a time.
